The bamboo matcha whisk, or "chasen," is potentially the most important of the loose tea accessories for the preparation of matcha. The fine, curved bamboo tines of the chasen allow the finely powdered matcha to be thoroughly incorporated into the water and well-frothed. It is often paired with the bamboo matcha scoop, or "chashaku," used to measure matcha.

    Not much I can say about this whisk other than it works as intended. It produces a good froth in my matcha tea and retains its shape after repeated use.

    TIP: to extend the life of your whisk, always pre-moisten it in hot water prior to whisking.
