Karen -

I believe this study was only conducted with Lemon, Lime, and Orange Juice so, unfortunately, I do not know how other Vitamin C sources would work in comparison. I'm sure it couldn't hurt to try, but you would be conducting your own study if you do! : )

Hello. I have a citrus allergy/intolerance. So unable to use fresh squeezed oranges, lemons, or grapefruit. Do you have any knowledge say using other Vit. C sources; ie: pureed strawberries, kiwi, blueberries etc.? Or is the benefit not worth the trouble? Thank you

Hi Cheryl,

Just read your question. As with so many things regarding this burgeoning area, some one needs to do a solid study first. Sometimes, what looks to be a good combination turns out to be an empty hole.

So, a double-blind human study needs to be done with a sufficiently large enough population over a sufficiently long enough time frame to actually make some recommendations. After which, confirming studies need to be done....which is why drug tests are so expensive.

And to support the researchers doing the study, there has to be money available.

The short answer is: follow what has been done unless you do not mind being your own guinea pig. In which case, keep careful and detailed records so you know what changes occured and when....

Hi Cheryl: I think that citrus *juice* is probably better because it gets into solution more thoroughly than what might be extracted from dried citrus. That's just an educated guess, however.
