Matcha Sugar Cookie Recipe

Matcha Sugar Cookies Recipe

Sweet and a little savory, with a rich green color, these festive sugar cookies are matcha-ly delicious! We recommend pairing them with a pot of Organic Irish Breakfast Black Tea for a simple St Patrick’s Day tea.

Makes 24 cookies

Ingredients

      • 2 cups all-purpose flour
      • 2 TBS Organic Matcha Green Tea Cooking Grade
      • ½ tsp baking soda
      • ½ tsp salt
      • 1 cup sugar
      • ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
      • 1 TBS vanilla extract
      • 1 egg

Directions

      1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
      2. Grease baking sheets or line with parchment paper.
      3. Sift flour, matcha, baking soda and salt together in a bowl. Set aside.
      4. Beat sugar and butter together in a large bowl using an electric mixer until blended; beat in vanilla extract and egg until light and creamy.
      5. Gently mix flour mixture into creamed butter until dough is just blended.
      6. For cut out cookies, cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least one hour. Once dough is chilled, roll it out on a floured surface to ¼” thick and use your favorite cookie cutter shapes to cut out the dough. Place cut dough 1-2 inches apart on the prepared cookie sheets. Repeat until all the dough is used.
      7. For drop cookies, use 1 heaping tablespoon of dough per cookie and drop onto the prepared cookie sheet 2 to 3 inches apart.
      8. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until edges are lightly browned.
      9. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 3 minutes then transfer to a rack to cool completely.
